The Bridge to Salvation

1. GOD: A Loving Initial Plan

This flow begins from the right side of the image, from God's own heart. From the very beginning, God never planned for destruction, but for a beautiful life for us:

• John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

This verse affirms the core foundation of all His plans: that God loves us deeply and longs to give us eternal life.

• John 10:10: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
  God promises not only a future in heaven but also an abundant life today—a quality of life filled with purpose, impact, meaning, true peace, joy, love, and complete acceptance.

2. OUR PROBLEM: The Chasm of Sin That Separates

However, if we look at the left side of the image, there is a bitter reality regarding the human condition due to turning away from God. A steep chasm is formed, separating humanity from God's presence:

• Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
  The reality that all humans without exception have sinned, and as a result, we have all fallen and lost the glory of God.
• Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
  The wages or fatal consequence of that sin brings death, which includes physical death as well as spiritual death (the severance of the relationship with God).
• Hebrews 9:27: "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."
  The Bible reminds us that this chain of consequences of sin is certain and serious: starting from sin, leading to death, and after that, humans must face judgment.
• Ephesians 2:8-9: "(8) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (9) not of works, lest anyone should boast."
  Humans often try to jump this chasm with their own efforts, religion, or morality. However, the bottom of this cliff firmly reminds us that good deeds alone will never be enough to save us.

3. GOD'S SOLUTION: The Cross of Christ as the Bridge

Because it is impossible for humans to cross that chasm of death with their own strength, God Himself stepped in to provide a way out right in the middle of the chasm. The cross of Jesus Christ serves as the only solid connecting bridge:

• Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
  The proof of God's radical love is shown when Jesus was willing to die on the cross to bear our sins, precisely while we were still in the status of sinners.
• 1 Peter 3:18: "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit."
  Through His perfect sacrifice and suffering, Jesus bridged that separation to bring you back to God.

4. OUR RESPONSE: Taking a Step of Faith

The magnificent bridge of the cross is already available, but salvation does not happen automatically. As illustrated by the figure of the human and the dashed arrow, we need to make a personal decision to step across:

• John 1:12: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
  This gift of salvation becomes ours tangibly when we are willing to take action to believe and receive Jesus into our lives.
• Revelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
  Jesus is a polite person who respects your decision. He stands at the door of your heart, knocking, and deeply longs for an intimate and living personal relationship with you.

In the image, the starting position of every human stands on the left side (Our Problem) under the shadows of death and judgment. But through the bridge of the cross (God's Solution), the access to a life full of meaning and peace on the right side (God) is now wide open. Now, the choice is in your hands: will you remain silent on the edge of the chasm, or will you respond to His knocking and step across toward eternal life?
